As I’m wrapping up my teaching artist residency in Jamestown ND, I am setting up my art booth for a one day show at the Jamestown Civic Arena – sort of a trial run with the new booth set up, and a way to showcase my artwork before I leave town. I hope to see some of my Gussner and St. John’s kids there!!
It’s six blocks of art, music, entertainment and food. Our Street Faire at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota has it all. On Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3, 2017, Detroit Lakes cordons off the downtown for the first, big outdoor event of the season.
One hundred and twenty-five juried artists set up their paintings, sculptures, pottery, jewelry and other first class art. Musicians stroll the sidewalks. Bands perform from a main stage, free to attendees.
There’s something for everyone. Your children will love the balloons, having their faces painted and riding on the carnival rides. You can mellow out with classic folk music or soothing Bluegrass. Or, put on your dancing shoes at the Eagles on Friday night.
Eat your way through the food court. It’s summer time and Our Street Faire is the perfect way to begin the season. For more information, see the Street Faire at the Lakes website or call the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center, 218-844-4221.
See You at the Street Faire of the Lakes!
The Art in the Park Festival is held in conjunction with Mandan Rodeo Days and Fourth of July Celebration. It has grown to be a popular event, attracting 25,000-30,000 visitors from across North Dakota and surrounding states.
Location of the festival is in the Robert Dykshoorn Park and Heritage Park which are along the parade route on Main Street in Mandan. It will host art and craft booths as well as food booths and cultural entertainment. Proceeds of our shows have gone toward park improvements, high school scholarships and the public library. Previous monies have paid for landscaping, underground sprinkling systems and band shell. This year the Festival grounds have been expanded to facilitate more artists and craft booths.
